What CC SORVA accomplished in 2021

 

Working with DNR and CC SORVA funding spent nearly $115,000 on YOUR Trails.

Replaced a failing culvert on the RR Grade trail east of 5 mile rd.

Worked with the Forest Service to finally get the Bobby Gay Truck Trail opened to ORV’s.

Met with the US Forest Service to propose additional trails/roads opened to ORV’s. .  Succeeded in getting the Bobbigay Truck Trail opened to ORV’s.

Conducted ditching on the RR Grade trail from 5 to 6 mile road

Contracted for hole filling and slag stone placement on nearly a mile of the RR Grade trail between 5 and 6 mile.  Some holes had up to FOUR foot of water in them in the spring and were in the worst section of trail on our whole trail system

Contracted for monthly grading of the RR Grade trail from the Soo to Strongs.

Conducted significant Brushing operations on portions of the trail near Ranger Rd west to widen the trail and allow for grooming.

Conducted regular trail maintenance along the whole length of the RR Grade trail and other approved trails including fallen tree removal, trail signage, map boards, and brushing back corners for road crossing site lines.

Filled large holes on the trail in the Village of Brimley and west of the Irish Line Rd.

CC SORVA leads monthly rides, for members to attend if they wish, including Crisp Point, Mouth of the Two Hearted River, Grand Marais, and the popular Tahquamenon Falls ride.
