The Club executive will be meeting with Paul Gaberdiel of the DNR, just prior to our SORVA meeting. So we should have some more info at the meeting, about where we’ll be going in 2017. We’ll have a couple of hats present at the meeting, for members to make a choice for a new CC-SORVA hat. Come out and give your input on the hats and get updated on the direction CC-SORVA will be taking in 2017. One thing is for sure. We’ll be busy!

Let's ride folks. Let's do the County Road Ride to get the season started. But we'll start at Bay Mills instead of the Soo. Meet early so you can swap lies, visit, etc. and be ready to leave at 10:00.

Let's go find out where there is snow left on the trails! We should be able to go just about anywhere we would normally go now. And conditions should be even better by ride day. See you there!

Park in the north parking lot of the Bay Mills Casino. Please arrive early and be prepared to leave at 9:30.

Due to unusual circumstance, this will be a self organized ride. No member of the the CC-SORVA board will able to lead the group.

Ride to Trout Lake and back. Lunch in Trout Lake.

Meet at Bay Mills Casino parking area and ride to St. Ignace.  Lunch will be at the Driftwood Inn in St. Ignace.

Park in the grassy area behind the MerryIn Motel at Strongs and ride to Newberry. Lunch at Pickelman's.

We're going to ride in the 4th of July Parade, accompanying the Chippewa Motors float. Meeting time/place details will come later this summer.

Michigan Trails Advisory Council to meet Thursday, July 6 in Roscommon

The Michigan Trails Advisory Council will hold its next work session and regular meeting Thursday, July 6, at the Ralph A. MacMullan Conference Center, located at 104 Conservation Drive in Roscommon. The public meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

The MTAC was created by Part 721, Pure Michigan Trails, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, to advise the Department of Natural Resources director and the governor on the creation, development, operation and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized trails in the state, including, but not limited to, snowmobile, biking, equestrian, hiking, off-road vehicle, water and skiing trails. In advising the DNR director and governor on the creation and development of motorized and non-motorized trails in the state, the council shall seek to have the trails linked wherever possible.

• General fund update.
• Trust fund update.
• Changes to U.S. Forest Service saw policy.
• Fees released to event and use permits.

We have two cabins rented at the Jack Pine Lodge on M-94 south of Shingleton. We'll trailer there the morning of the 18th and be on the trails after lunch. We can ride the area through the 20th and return home in the evening. The two cabins will sleep around 15 people. And there are camp sites available. If you want to camp you will have to call the Jack Pine to reserve a camp site. (906-450-8888). We'll have to have a meeting as we get closer, for all those wanting to ride this event, so that we can make plans for bringing food. The cabins have full kitchens.

The group will meet at the parking area of the Chippewa Snow Chaser's trail head on S. Strongs Rd. When reaching Strongs, turn south and the lot is just south of the motel. We'll meet at 9:15 for socialization and depart precisely at 9:30. PLEASE ensure you are there early and ready to roll at 9:30.

There are now thunderstorms in the forecast, along with up to an inch of rain for Saturday. So it seems prudent to cancel the Tahquamenon Falls ride. I hate to do it but at this point it seems best. See you the next weekend for our Grand Marais ride.

The Motel is a CC-SORVA sponsor and is located at the intersection of M-28 and Strongs/S. Salt Point Rd. The motel does have gas pumps in case you need to top off prior to departure.

This meeting is being held specifically to accommodate a vote on the suggested new bylaw changes. The meeting will be immediately followed by the Christmas Party.
